When it comes to makeup, director and founder of Master Makeup, Dean Nixon is at the top of his craft. With fifteen years of experience as a professional makeup artist up his often rolled-up sleeve, Dean has tended to some of the most beautiful faces and worked in the world's biggest fashion capitals. And now, through Master Makeup he is tending to real women – one fabulous brushstroke at a time.

In 1997, after a stint at a growing Melbourne makeup brand to earn his makeup stripes, Dean was catapulted to the role of Global Premier Makeup Artist for Estee Lauder. In this impressive position, Dean was fast-tracked to an international level, which enabled him to showcase his unique skills in the US, London, Europe and Asia.

Since leaving his role at Estee Lauder to spread his wings in 2009, Dean has continued to use his extensive makeup skill in the fashion and cosmetic industries. For the past five years, Dean has been working with the biggest brands in the business. Dean has been the makeup director for the shows of world-leading hair brands Redken, Matrix, Kerastase and L'Oreal Professionnel, and was also enlisted to do the makeup for the hair brands' Australian advertising campaigns and shoots. In addition, Dean has had a longstanding relationship with David Jones, where he has directed the makeup for the department store's seasonal fashion shows for the past nine seasons.

Over his career, Dean has worked his makeup magic on some of the world's most beautiful and famous faces. Amongst the A-listers who've had Dean's special treatment include Elizabeth Hurley, Delta Goodrum, Kristy Hinze, Miranda Kerr, Megan Gale, Carolyn Murphy, the boys from Human Nature and Gemma Ward.

With such zeal for makeup, it was only a matter of time before Dean decided to turn his talents to create a "how to" makeup class for the everyday women. Inspired by women's thirst for real and practical makeup knowledge, and the belief that all women should be able to create beautiful makeup for themselves, Master Makeup was born.

Master Makeup launched in 2008 and Dean Nixon hasn't looked back since. Unique to the impersonal and fleeting makeup makeovers within department stores, Dean's two-hour hands-on Master Makeup Masterclasses offer women a fun, relaxed and non-threatening environment where they can learn expert insider tips and tricks to unlock the secrets of their makeup bag.

"Master Makeup is for real women who are interested in applying their makeup better. At Master Makeup classes women can learn how to create makeup that they'll use. Perhaps a beautiful smoky eye or a flawlessly applied foundation," says Dean.

Eighteen months after its launch, Master Makeup has grown to also offer wedding makeup artists for that special day, and Master Makeup's fun-filled Hen's Nights and Girls' Night Out. Because Master Makeup believes that all women should be able to put their best face forward.
